Republic of Armenia and Vologda Region are strengthening partnership ties.

05.02.2021 11:16

Republic of Armenia and Vologda Region are strengthening partnership ties.

The prospects of cooperation between the Vologda Region and the Republic of Armenia were discussed at the local government. The meeting was held in the video conference format.

Employees of the Russian Trade Representation in Armenia, representatives of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Gyumri and bodies of executive power participated in the meeting aimed at developing business, humanitarian and interregional relations.

Armenia is among the priority partners of the Vologda Region. In April 2016 Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov came to Armenia as a member of the Russian delegation led by Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev. An agreement between the Government of the Vologda Region and the Administration of the Armavir Region on trade, economic, science, technological and cultural cooperation was signed by Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Armavir Region Governor Ashot Kagramanyan.

During the visit to Armenia in December 2017, the top leadership of the Vologda Region and the Armavir Region agreed to continue cooperation and signed a programme of joint actions up to 2021. The focus of the agreement is on cooperation in trade and economic sphere.

Such areas as agriculture, food industry and raw materials for food industry, advanced woodworking and metalworking, and manufacture of building materials and timbered house building were indicated as priority for future collaboration between the Vologda Oblast and Armenia.

However, the situation with the spread of a novel coronavirus infection did not allow to implement all the plans. Thanks to joint efforts, the Vologda Region and the Republic of Armenia look forward to further fruitful cooperation and new joint projects between our countries and regions.
