Vologda Oblast Governor visited Veliky Ustyug to inspect the water resources situation in the region.
Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and local government officials arrived in Veliky Ustyug to inspect the water resources situation in the region. Means and facilities of the territorial subsystem of Emergency Situation Department of the Vologda Oblast are ready for reliable and accident-free passage of snowmelt floods and flood waters, said Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
High risk of flooding the settlements due to an active snowmelt, failures and shortages of drainage systems, as well as settlements located in the lowlands, is expected in the district of Veliky Ustyug where the Sukhona River flows.
Mr. Kuvshinnikov overflew the territories to inspect the water resources situation in the region. The local authorities started preventive activities on the Sukhona River and the Malaya Severnaya Dvina River together with all departments involved in the passage of spring floods and engaged rather serious forces to destroy the ice in the areas with high risk of the ice jam.
