Vologda cheese - one more claim to fame in Vologda Region.
Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov visited a new cheese-making plant in Lipin Bor (Vashki District, Vologda Region) that manufactures hard and semi-hard cheese.
Every region has its claim to fame, but there's none sweeter than Vologda's position as Russia's butter capital. Vologda is famous for its dairy products. Just mention butter and quality together and every Russian will invariably reply "Vologda butter." The very name Vologodskoe indicates the highest quality and freshness. From now on, one more dairy product manufactured on Vologda's soil will enjoy such fame and brand recognition and might become one of Vologda’s specialities.
Dairy products produced in the Vologda region have been famous for their taste and high-fat content. The local water meadows, where the cattle graze, are considered one of the best in the country. There is also a technological secret - cheese is produced from high-quality milk.
Established in 2015, the plant in Lipin Bor specialized in milk production first. To gain better knowledge in hard and semi-hard cheese technology, its employees visited a cheese-producing plant in Israel. After the trip, it was decided to produce cheese using Israeli equipment and based on the Swiss technology used there. Now the line is fully equipped with everything needed for a full production cycle.
The Vologda Region Governor and the local government supported this project since it is aimed at development of agriculture in the region and the increase in the number of cattle.
