Veliky Ustyug is in the list of Russia's small cities that are most popular destinations for winter vacationing.
The study was conducted by e-service for searching hotels Tvil.ru. It searched for the most popular and affordable options for tourists, compiled its results based on the number of hotel reservations for this winter.
The top ten of the rating includes such Russian most popular destinations as Alushta and Bakhchysarai in Crimea, Goryachiy Klyuch in the Krasnodar region, Veliky Ustyug in the Vologda region, Pereslavl-Zalesskiy in the Yaroslavl region, Luga in the Leningrad region, Zheleznovodsk in the Stavropol region, Kondopoga in the Republic of Karelia, Satka in the Chelyabinsk region and Istra in the Moscow region.
Veliky Ustyug has much to offer the discerning visitor. It has a remarkable place on Russia's tourist map. With a unique cultural and historical heritage, the city, abundant with architectural monuments and arts, has great tourism potential.
The official residence of Ded Moroz (Russia's Santa Claus) is located in Veliky Ustyug. It is in traditional "terem" style. The residence welcomes visitors all year around, but naturally it is especially popular during the New Year's holiday season.
