Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, head of the Russian National Network Association of Healthy Cities, Regions and Settlements took part in the 5th forum “Healthy Cities of Russia”.
The forum with international participation was held online.
The event was also attended by representatives of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the World Health Organization, WHO European Network "Healthy Cities", members of the Association of Healthy Cities, Regions and Settlements, representatives of scientific and public organizations.
Russian regions and the republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan participated in the forum “Healthy Cities of Russia”.
One of the main topics of the plenary session is the fight against novel coronavirus infection. According to Ms. Melita Vujnović, a WHO Representative to the Russian Federation in Moscow, people need to learn how to control the virus. Dr Melita Vujnović stressed that, face masks combined with other preventive measures, such as getting vaccinated, frequent hand-washing and physical distancing, can help slow the spread of the virus and reduce the number of sick people.
According to Oleg Kuvshinnikov, in order to stabilize the situation, it is necessary to adhere to the basic protocols for treatment and rehabilitation which have been developed by the World Health Organization. This is the only way to reduce the spread of the pandemic, the number of patients who are being treated at hospitals, rescue the patients and reduce the mortality from COVID-19 infection.
“The pandemic has shown that we must be ready for conscious responsibility for our own health and the health of other citizens, to be full-fledged partners of the state in the fight against the coronavirus. All together - members of the Association, heads of local governments, major medical organizations, and doctors are able to reduce the risk of spreading, get herd immunity in the population and save the lives of our people,” said Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Chairman of the Russian National Network Association of Healthy Cities, Regions and Settlements.
In addition to it, the Vologda Region Governor underlined that it is necessary to develop rehabilitation care protocol for COVID-19 patients.
