Vologda’s Governor took part in a meeting of the Architectural and Town Planning Council of Vologda Region.
On agenda was discussion of a general plan of Vologda City development. The City of Vologda is in the process of updating its General Plan. The General Plan is the blueprint for what Vologda will be - it should both reflect the community’s values and guiding principles of today and create a vision for the future of Vologda City.
The top leadership of the Vologda Oblast started working out the Vologda 2035 General Plan. The Vologda General Plan is a comprehensive, long-range, and internally consistent statement of policies for the development and preservation of Vologda. It is a statement of community priorities and values to be used to guide public decision-making in future years.
The adoption of the General Plan will set a new direction for the future of Vologda. “The General Plan will be shaped by extensive outreach to residents, business, developers, and decision-makers”, said Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov. It will be developed through community meetings, public workshops and efforts of the city officials.
The Governor stressed that the goals and associated policies and actions are intended to work together in concert to establish and maintain Vologda as a sustainable city that promotes social equity, environmental quality, and economic prosperity to meet the needs of its residents and guests to the city.
Also, one of the Plan’s goals is to ensure that Vologda has an adequate supply of decent housing, living-wage jobs, and businesses providing basic goods and services.
The Vologda General Plan is the long-range guide for the city, and addresses issues such as energy, housing, neighborhoods, public facilities, natural resources, transportation and land use. At the meeting of the Architectural and Town Planning Council, the Vologda Oblast Governor noted that this plan should be updated by a public hearing.
