Vologda's Governor attends the 14th Conference of the United Russia Party.
On October 5th Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov was present at the 14th Convention of the United Russia Party held in Gostiny Dvor, Moscow. The 14th Convention of the United Russia Party united about 1700 delegates and guests, including party activists, governors of Russian regions, mayors of cities, member of the RF State Duma and the Federation Council, and chairmen of legislative assemblies.
The results of the recent regional elections and the party strategy in the face of increasing political competition were the main issues at the 14th Congress of United Russia. The delegates analyzed not only the past election campaign, but also the work of the party’s MP factions in regional legislative assemblies, taking into account the further democratization of the country’s political system.
The Congress approved amendments to the party’s statute and discussed key problems facing Russians that should be focused on in 2014.
Among the issues discussed at the conference were the relief efforts following the floods in the Far East; the extension of and alterations to the maternity capital programme; support of the United Russia’s federal project Kindergartens for Children, which will ensure there is a sufficient number of pre-school facilities; pension reform; migrant workers’ assimilation, and other urgent issues.
