Vologda Region to get financial support from the federal treasury to balance its budget.
Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow. In the framework of bilateral talks it was decided to give assistance to the Vologda Oblast and to balance its budget.
The Governor briefed on a difficult situation that the Vologda Oblast is living through at the moment. Over the seven months of 2013 the consolidated revenues amounted to only 50%. The income tax paid to the budget of the Vologda Oblast reduced two times.
Vologda Oblast Governor also asked the Prime Minister to include measures related to flood protection, floodplain development, dam safety in Veliky Ustyug into a federal program “Development of the water management complex of the Russian Federation in 2012 - 2020”. Every year Veliky Ustyug suffers from spring floods. High risk of flooding the settlements due to an active snowmelt, failures and shortages of drainage systems, as well as settlements located in the lowlands, was noticed in 33 settlements and villages of the Veliky Ustyug District.
Dmitry Medvedev instructed RF Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergei Donskoy to include damn construction along the Northern Dvina River in the District of Veliky Ustyug, Vologda Oblast into the federal program.
On a visit to Moscow, Oleg Kuvshinnikov also briefed on elections that were held in the Vologda Oblast on September 8, 2013 and implementation of investment projects by such leading enterprises as JSC Severstal, PhosAgro, Gazpromneft, Nestle and others.
