Vologda authorities order all restaurants, bars and other establishments to close from midnight to 8 a.m. every day starting Oct. 29.
The top leadership of the Vologda Region has reinstated a nationwide mask mandate starting October 28 and has recommended that restaurants and bars close between midnight and 8 a.m. leaving only food delivery or takeout.
Russia’s top sanitary doctor, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing issued a decree recommending prohibition of entertainment events and work of enterprises in the food service industry from 23:00 to 06:00 due to the situation with the spread of the coronavirus infection. According to the document, the final decision should be made by the regional leaders.
A number of Russian regions risk facing a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic that is worse than the first. The Vologda Region confirmed 95 Covid-19 cases Wednesday, bringing its official number of cases to 6722.
Additionally, it is recommended to introduce additional measures to protect people over 65 years of age and those with chronic illnesses, increase disinfection measures in public transportation, taxicabs, shopping centers, theaters, concert halls, and movie theaters. Elderly people should stay home as older people and people with weakened immune systems due to underlying health conditions are at greater risk for serious infection.
“The restrictions are absolutely necessary in order to slow the spread of coronavirus infection and reduce the number of cases,” said chairman of the Vologda Oblast Government Anton Koltsov at a meeting of the Emergency Headquarters for Infection Control.
