Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov participated in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The President held a meeting, via videoconference, on the situation with floods and wildfires in the Russian regions.

Taking part in the meeting were Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh, Emergencies Minister Yevgeny Zinichev, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dmitry Kobylkin, Acting Head of Komi Republic Vladimir Uyba, Trans-Baikal Territory Governor Alexander Osipov, Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, and Acting Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev.

Emergencies Minister Mr Zinichev noted that the floods are occurring around Russia in accordance with the forecasts, and the flood season is almost over. As usual, the breakup of ice and the spring floods in Russia’s North-West presented problems, but they have not reached supercritical levels.

The Vologda Region Governor briefed on what measures the regional authorities take to resolve the situation with floods in the region and to support the people.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov noted that 11 municipalities on the territory of the Vologda Oblast were affected by heavy rains. The settlements are located in the lowlands. The flood situations in the Vologda Region are controlled. The local authorities do their utmost to help the residents to withstand floods.
