Vologda Region and St. Petersburg to continue cooperation in trade, education, tourism and culture
On a visit to St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and St. Petersburg’s Governor Alexander Beglov signed a treaty on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural fields for 2022-2026.
The Vologda Oblast has been sustaining direct partnership ties with St. Petersburg for years. The Vologda Region delivers ferrous metals, mineral and chemical fertilizers, glassware, fabrics, wood, cheese, confectionery, dairy and meat products to St.Petersburg and imports beverages and food products, pharmaceutical products, chemical industry goods, vehicles and equipment.
The regions are developing cooperation in scientific and technical spheres implementing joint research programs and projects, participating in scientific events arranged at the universities, research institutes and industrial enterprises of the regions.
“For us, St. Petersburg is a key strategic partner. The turnover between the regions is growing every year. We supply a large variety of environmentally friendly Vologda’s staple products under the trademark “Vologda made product” to the markets of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region. The universities of St. Petersburg are very popular with Vologda’s high school graduates, so exchange of students is one more promising direction of further cooperation,” said Mr. Kuvshinnikov.
Cooperation in tourism sphere, exhibition and fair activities between the regions is also successful. The emphasis of partnership ties between Vologda and St. Petersburg is also placed on war memorial work and patriotic education.
