09.07.2010. French delegation led by Jean de Gliniasti, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia has arrived in Vologda.

The main objective of the visit is to launch a joint engineering project producing infrared cameras at the Vologda Optical and Mechanical plant.   

05.07.2010. Vologda is hosting the VOICES Festival (Vologda Independent Cinema from European Screens) from July 4th to 9th, 2010.

VOICES Festival is an official event of the Year of France program in Russia, and is supported by the Vologda Oblast Governor, Vologda City, the French Embassy in Russia and the RF Ministry of Culture.

The Festival combines both competition and directors' workshops.   

29.06.2010. Vologda Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Pozgalyov took part in putting in operation of a heat power plant at Krasavino, District of Veliky Ustyug.

The decision regarding construction and financing of a power plant was made in 2004 by the top leadership of the Vologda Oblast Government and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade at the Russian-Czech Forum.   

16.08.2010. Today the Vologda Youth Centre "Sodruzhestvo" will host the display of short films produced during an international project "European citizenship through film-making" organized by AEGEE-Baku from July 22 to August 2.

The project "European citizenship through film-making" was organized in Nabran town of Azerbaijan within the framework of a program of the European Union "Youth in Action" considered for 2007-2013.

30.07.2010. Young dancers from the Vologda "Russian North" dance company participated in a large-scale cultural festival entitled "Young Russian culture in Italy".

Vologda's dance and song company "Russian North" made a headline performance bringing Russian music and dance to the heart of Venice - La Fenice opera house and Piazza San Marco (often known in English as Saint Mark's Square) which is the principal square

12.07.2010. First-ever Russian - American Bluegrass Jamboree featuring traditional American music is to be held in Vologda on July 20 - 21, 2010.

The festival is arranged with an active backing of the US Consulate General in St.Petersburg. Among the guests of honour is Vologda Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Pozgalyov, US Consul General Sheila S. Gwaltney and Public Affairs Officer Eric A. Johnson.

23.06.2010. Vologda is to host the 10th International Theatrical festival "Voices of History" from June 24th through July 2nd.

It is arranged jointly with the RF Ministry of Culture, RF Union of theatrical workers, Vologda Oblast Government and Administration of Vologda City.

It has become customary to hold the festival since 1991 in Vologda. It merits great attention. The success of it has been conditioned by the

31.05.2010. Heads of veterans' organisations from Vologda are to visit Dresden (Germany) from June 1 through 6, 2010.

The visit is organized by the Ministry of social service and protection of consumers of the Federal land Saxony. Its main objective is to study social work with pensioners, social insurance system and forms of pensioners' involvement in social life in Germany.

19.05.2010. Scientific conference "Applied Optronics" is to be held in Vologda on May 20-21 as part of the Year of Russia in France and the Year of France in Russia.

The conference is organised by Thales Optronique, a French company specialising in optronic equipment and system for observation reconnaissance, and Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant, a leading supplier of optical systems in Russia.
