14.12.2009. On December 14 Vyacheslav Pozgalyov, Vologda Oblast Governor, has come on a working visit to Moscow.

Together with Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, the head of the region is to participate in a press-conference for Russian mass media representatives.

Then Mr. Pozgalyov will take part in the 2009 Golden Verb Award Ceremony in the Vologda Oblast representative office in Moscow.   

08.12.2009. On December 9th Vologda Oblast Governor Mr. Pozgalyov is to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the RUSSIAN WOOD, an international trade fair for woodworking equipment, machinery and wood products.

The fair has become traditional annual and one of the most significant events in the Russian and world timber industry. The scope of the exhibition-fair is impressive.   

07.12.2009. Vologda Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Pozgalyov in person congratulated a Cherepovets-born Ivan Skobrev who skated to a second place finish in 6:13.19 in the men's 5000 meter event during the ISU World Cup speed skating race in Calgary, December 5, 2009.

Sven Kramer of Holland celebrated his first place finish in 6:11.11.   

18.12.2009. British Consul General to St. Petersburg William Elliott had a working meeting with Vladimir Medvedev, head of the Vologda Oblast representative office in Russia's North-West.

During the meeting both sides discussed cooperation of Great Britain and the Vologda region in several areas - economy, culture and tourism. Mr. Elliot mentioned that some British companies are actively operating with OAO Severstal, Russia's second-largest steel company by tonnage, and he expressed a desire to share best practices and techniques gained by the British businesses in energy saving.

The British Consul General introduced Mr. Medvedev to Jon Carney, HM Consul who is to visit the Vologda Region from January 29 through 31, 2010 as a member of the mission of Consul Generals in St. Petersburg.

18.12.2009. Today Russia's Ded Moroz is arriving in Latvia to open the programme of New Year festivities there.

Ded Moroz will be welcomed by children and adults in Liepāja, Rēzekne, Zilupe and Riga. In addition, the Host of Winter is to meet the mayor of Riga, the RF Consul General and the Russian community. 15.12.2009. Ded Moroz continues a traditional pre-New Year trip.

This bearded sorcerer accompanied by other members of a Vologda delegation is to fly from his traditional home city of Veliky Ustyug to Hungary. Children from a Russian school of Budapest and students of Miscols' colleges will be the first to receive his New Year congratulations and gifts. Then Father Frost and his delegation will meet Dr. Ódór Ferenc, head of the twinning Hungarian region of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén. The members of Vologda's delegation - tour business professionals - will tell the Hungarian colleagues about tourism opportunities in the Vologda Region that has unlimited potential as a tourist destination, given the residence of Ded Moroz in an ancient city of Veliky Ustyug and other pleasures.

14.12.2009. Official ceremony devoted to completion of a power plant construction in Krasavino, Vologda Oblast, will take place tomorrow.

The decisions regarding construction and financing of a power plant were made in 2005 by the top leadership of the Vologda Oblast Government and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade at the Russian-Czech Forum. The project was financed by the Czech Export Bank, its building owner being Vologdaoblkommunenergo, a state-run power enterprise, and a general contractor - PSG-International, a.s (Czech Republic), one of the country's leaders in construction services. The investments into the project totaled EUR 87,42 mln.

The implementation of the project lasted 2 years. The new steam-gas power has an estimated capacity of 70 MW. The project envisaged construction of new generation facilities and aimed to achieve the successful energy supply of the north-eastern regions of the Vologda land.

09.12.2009. Russian Wood, one of the leading trade fairs for woodworking equipment, machinery and wood products, started on December 9, Vologda.

Russian Wood is an event with a long tradition. It takes place for the 14th time in 2009. Trade visitors from Russian regions and foreign participants from Austria, Italy, Poland, Finland and Belarus will participate in the Russian Wood between 9 and 11 December.

The subject-matter of the exhibition organized in Vologda has been stable in recent years: round timber, sawn wood, chipboards, fibreboards, plywood, logging machines, feller-bunchers and feller-skidders will be on display. The organizers announced several conferences on a variety of issues covering forest legislation, forest use, forest management, conservation and protection, to mention but a few.

08.12.2009. Consul General of Ukraine in St. Petersburg Natalia Prokopovich has arrived in Vologda on an official visit.

The main objective of the visit is to take part in the Russian Wood, an international exhibition-fair for technological equipment for forestry and manufacture of wood and wood-working articles, that is held in Vologda from December 9 through 11. The visiting consul is to also to meet Vologda's entrepreneurs and familiarize herself with cultural and economic potential of the Vologda area.

07.12.2009. Russian Ded Moroz and his helpers are paying a visit to Strasbourg from December 6 through 9 as part of a traditional pre-New Year tour.

Accompanied by the mayor of Strasbourg and the Russian ambassador to France, the Russian holiday-season miracle-maker has already attended Christmas Fair and the Russian village. On Saint-Thomas Square he was welcomed by Père Noël, a legendary gift-giver during Christmas in France.

Today Ded Moroz will congratulate the handicapped children of Neuhof on New Year's Eve and children learning Russian in the city of Gérardmer.

In addition to it, Ded Moroz is to meet media representatives and the city's high-ranking officials in the City Hall of Strasbourg, to visit the RF Consulate General and Russia's representative office in the Council of Europe. 04.12.2009. 14th International exhibition-fair "Russian Wood" will be held in Vologda from December 9 through 11, 2009.

Russian Wood, exhibition for innovation technologies to be applied in the timber industry, in production of technological equipment for forestry and manufacture of wood and wood-working articles gives an opportunity to be engaged in discussions with other professionals.
