Vologda's tourism potential was presented at an International Trade Fair for Travel & Tourism Intourmarket.
ITM is the main tourism event that is officially supported by the Russian Federal Agency for tourism and other federal and professional organizations contributing to the travel industry development in Russia.
Vologda’s experts participated in the International Trade Fair for Travel & Tourism Intourmarket (ITM) which was held in Moscow from March 11-12.
The forum brought together hosted buyers and travel professionals from all Russian regions with Russian and international tourism key players.
The delegation from the Vologda Oblast led by Deputy Governor Oleg Vasiliev presented tourism opportunities of the Vologda Region to the visitors of the exhibitions and told about its main places of interest, itineraries, hotels and sanatoriums.
The emphasis was on Silver Necklace, a unique tourism product (brand) consisting of chain of routes crossing ancient Russian cities with unique historical and cultural heritage of Northwest Russia. The Silver Necklace of Russia is a tourist project across 11 regions of the Russian Federation - Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Pskov, Novgorod regions, Saint Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia and the Komi Republic, Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In 2015 the authorities of the Vologda Oblast jointly with the Russian Ministry of Culture decided to launch a tourism project “Silver Necklace of Russia” in the region.
