Vologda Region ranks 7th in milk production in Russia.
According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Vologda Region took the 7th place in the all-Russian rating for average daily milk yield per cow.
The average yield per cow in agricultural organizations of the Vologda Region is 22.42 kilograms. As of May, 2020 gross milk production in agricultural organizations has amounted to 218,000 tons, or 107% compared to last year. The increase in gross milk yield has followed an increase in the productivity of the dairy herd.
“It is obvious that dairying is probably the best organized branch of Vologda’s agriculture. Dairy farming is the leading industry and dairy cattle breeding is considered the most promising direction of agriculture in the region, which needs to be further developed. We are to increase milk production efficiency using scientific developments and practical experience of our region and Russia as a whole,” stressed Deputy Governor Mikhail Glazkov.
