Two remote-controlled digital power substations will be launched in Vologda Region at the end of the year.
Rosseti built two digital substations (35 kV,) on the territory of the Vologda Region. One digital substation was set up in the settlement of Molochnoye (Vologda District), the other one - in Babaevo.
Digital technology is applied in automation and equipment control systems. Their operation will allow increasing the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers and providing technological connection of new industrial, household, and socially significant facilities. The investment amounted to about RUB 700 million.
The digital substations were built using the full set of domestic state-of-the-art technologies within the frames of the digital transformation concept being implemented by the companies of the Rosseti Group. It will create new jobs and increase the investment attractiveness of the region.
Rosseti North-West is a core enabler to increase safety, productivity and reliability for grid operators and to reduce the overall substation cost.
The digital substation reduces maintenance requirements and the need for miles of conventional cabling. Rosseti removes the last electrical connection between the high voltage equipment and the protection and control panels, creating a safer work environment, whilst reducing the costs for building, land, engineering, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the system. As a key component towards smarter grids, where utilities continue to integrate increasing amounts of intermittent renewable energy sources, Rosseti will also help improve safety thanks to improved data quality and a shorter decision time in case of an emergency.
