Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov paid an official visit to Cherepovets and Cherepovets District on February 7th.
The visit is part of a series of visits throughout the Vologda Oblast examining economic and social development of regions.
During his working visit to the District of Cherepovets, the Governor visited several social objects and inspected the roads of the district. Mr. Kuvshinnikov discussed plans to improve the road infrastructure of the municipality.
Owing to its advantageous geographical situation Cherepovets City found itself in the centre of the vast north-western oblast of the country. The city has convenient access to major Russian markets. Its extensive transport network includes a high-capacity railway junction, a well-ramified network of motor roads, and a big airport. Another factor ensuring to Cherepovets excellent business opportunities is its proximity to the Volgo-Baltic canal, one of the main routes in Russia, linking the Baltic Sea with the Volga basin. Thus, a thousand threads connect this generally recognized outpost of Russia's heavy industry with its various oblasts by air, land and water.
The head of the region attended a local school and a kindergarten at the settlement of Suda. Then he proceeded to a poultry farm.
Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov also held a meeting of the City Planning Council of Cherepovets.
