The President's instructions have been fulfilled: free meals will be organized for primary school pupils in Vologda Region from September 1.
According to the Russian President’s Address to the Federal Assembly delivered on January 15, 2020 free hot meals must be provided to all primary school students from grade one through four starting from September 1, 2020 in those regions and schools that have the required level of technical equipment. Primary school students must start receiving high-quality hot meals free of charge in all Russian regions from September 1, 2023.
In order to provide free hot and, most importantly, healthy meals, Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested channelling funding from three sources: the federal, regional and local budgets. He also asked the governors to expedite this work and create the required infrastructure at schools, set up cafeterias and lunchrooms and put in place a system for supplying high-quality food.
Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov assured that all schoolchildren of the Vologda Region will be provided with free hot meals starting from the new academic year, September 1, 2020.
The new centre for school nutrition will involve professions who provide high-quality free meals to primary school students across the Vologda Region. School nutrition professionals will improve their knowledge and skills to administer, manage, deliver and sustain successful school meal programs.
In the Vologda Region, 60,000 schoolchildren will study in 1-4 grades.
