The world is currently facing an unprecedented challenge: the novel coronavirus pandemic declared by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020.
“Coronavirus can be stopped only by harsh steps”, experts said. The most important thing here is the safety and health of citizens. That is why the number of restrictive measures being taken in the Vologda Region aiming to prevent coronavirus infection will not be lifted so far. “'If we stop, our efforts will be wasted,” stressed the participants of the meeting. The Vologda Region will step up its measures to slow the coronavirus pandemic's spread within its borders. All other lockdown restrictions remain in place.
Dr Melita Vujnovic, WHO Representative to the Russian Federation in Moscow noted that during this challenging time mass testing and 14-day separation of ill or infected persons from others to prevent the spread of infection are the most effective tools to counter the virus spread.
The Governor fully supported the opinion of the experts and professionals about the strict observance of the mask regime and measures of social distancing.
There have been 562 cases of coronavirus infections reported in the Vologda Region so far and 3 deaths.
