Vologda Region Governor took part in a meeting of the interdepartmental Council for public health of the RF Ministry of Health Care.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Vologda Region Governor participated in the meeting via video conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oleg Salagai, Deputy Minister of Health Care of the Russian Federation, addressed the meeting of the Council and welcomed representatives of federal and regional authorities, researchers from leading universities and research centers of the Russian Federation.
Making people healthier and developing medical science are rightly among government policy’s top priorities. There is an undisputed need for greater cooperation between the authorities, public organisations and business circles in this area.
Vologda Region Governor Mr. Kuvshinnikov heads the Russian National Network Association of Healthy Cities, Regions and Settlements that comprises over 100 municipalities with a population of 16 mln people. The Russian network of Healthy Cities has been operating since 2010. It gathered 7 cities-members at that time. It is clearly visible that the Russian Association of Healthy Cities is active and rapidly growing.
The Association’s programmes and major projects and initiatives carried out in many different parts of Russia help to educate the public, promote a healthy way of life, and improve the demographic situation. The Russian National Network Association of Healthy Cities, Regions and Settlements also spreads the use of modern effective diagnosis, prevention and treatment methods in medical practice.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov identified five national projects - "Demography"," Health care"," Sport-the norm of life"," Education"," Culture" that are aimed at the formation of physical, mental, moral and social health of a person. He emphasized seven more projects - "Small and medium-sized entrepreneurship and support of individual entrepreneurial initiative", "Safe and high-quality roads"," Labour productivity and employment support"," Housing and urban environment"," International cooperation and export"," Digital economy"," Ecology " that are focused on creating a safe, comfortable environment for healthy human life.
According to Mr. Kuvshinnikov, each event should be evaluated from the point of view of safety, health and quality of life of residents of a region, a city or a village. That is why, it is important to introduce the concept of "public health" in federal legislation.
