Restaurants and cafés, indoor gyms and pools in Vologda Region start to reopen.

04.08.2020

Restaurants and cafés, indoor gyms and pools in Vologda Region start to reopen.

August 4 is the date set for the reopening of restaurants and cafés. They will operate in a new socially distanced world.

Restaurants and cafés are reopening in the Vologda Region from 4 August, for the first time since the beginning of lockdown.

In his address on August 3, Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov said that "our long hibernation is beginning to come to an end," a move that finally allowed restaurants to widen their operations beyond the takeaway services.

Right from the offset, restaurants have been asked to consider the impact of coronavirus. There will be considerable restrictions in place: the five feet distancing rule, no live performances of any kind are permitted for now, any play areas for children should be closed. Staff at restaurants and and cafés should wear protective face masks.

Gyms and ice arenas will also have to follow strict hygiene measures and social distancing guidelines, including capacity limits, reduced class sizes, equipment spaced out and improved ventilation, according to government guidance.

The Vologda Region began the second phase of relaxing its Covid-19 lockdown measures on July 14th. Outdoor sports facilities have been open in the Vologda Region since 14 July because there is less risk of catching coronavirus in the fresh air. After several weeks under lockdown, shops selling clothes, hotels and sanatoriums reopened their doors but with strict rules on social distancing, customer numbers and hygiene. The Vologda Region also reopened day care centres for younger children from July 14.

As of August 3, the Vologda Region reported 2488 cases of coronavirus.
