Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov visited a construction site of a new dairy farm in the settlement of Vasiliyevskoye, Vologda District.

A new dairy farm for 560 heads of milk cows will boast modern equipment. Like other farms of the Vologda Oblast, a new farm will use automatic milking systems, also called voluntary milking . For the first time ever in Russia a milking robot was installed on a dairy farm RODINA (Vologda District) in 2007. Automatic milking is a serious alternative for a traditional milking parlour. There is a tendency to increase the number of farms milking with an automatic milking system throughout the Oblast.

New milking technology reduces the labour input during milking, resulting in a higher output per man-hour. It also leads to big changes for both farmers and cows. With automatic milking, the milking process does not require permanent supervision. Automatic milking places emphasis on the cow's motivation to visit the AM-system to be milked more or less voluntarily. For this reason all AM-systems are equipped with concentrate dispensers.

In 2019 the Vologda Region ranked 4th in Russia in milk production per capita. Dairy farming is the leading industry and dairy cattle breeding is considered the most promising direction of agriculture in the region.

The use of high-tech solutions will allow the company to increase daily milk production, monitor cow health and productivity. The dairy farm in Vasiliyevskoye will be commissioned by October 2021.
