Coronavirus: Vologda Region to ease some lockdown measures on June 2.

Authorities in the Vologda Region have eased lockdown restrictions while taking disease prevention measures.

Parks and shopping centres in the Vologda Region reopened and people were allowed out for walks and limited exercise for the first time in nine weeks.

Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov announced on June 1st the region had passed the peak of its outbreak.

Mr Kuvshinnikov has ordered a swathe of businesses to reopen in the region from Tuesday, June 2 - including car dealerships, book shops, launderettes and shopping malls.

Parks too are allowing visitors, with new exercise rules announced. Residents can also go outside for exercise with a friend, but only at a 5m distance.

As of June 1st the Vologda Region reported 952 cases of confirmed novel coronavirus infection COVID-19.
