Status of Ferapontov Monastery

The Ferapontov Monastery is considered to be one of the purest examples of Russian medieval art, a reason given by UNESCO for its inscription on the World Heritage List. The Museum of Dionisy's Frescoes located on the territory of the monastery is a branch of the Kirillo-Belozersky historical, architectural and art museum-preserve which is inscribed on the List of the most valuable objects of the Russian Federation by the decree of the RF President N 275 of April 2, 1997. Since January 1, 1998 the museum-preserve is under the supervision of the RF Ministry of Culture.

In its activity the Museum is governed by the Law on the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation and RF Museums of April 24, 1996.
